Istanbul 41st High Criminal Court’s trial hearing of Seçil Erzan was started around 11:30 in the morning and was interrupted at about 13:30 in the afternoon. The hearing resumed at around 14:30, lasting about 13 hours. The court adjourned until Monday to hear the testimony of witnesses.
Complainant Mert Zeydanlı said: “Branch manager Seçil Erzan invited me to her room. She told me about a private equity fund. She offered a contract. I knew what a private equity fund is. The only question I asked here is what guarantees my security. Because nothing is seen on any platform there. Erzan also told me that I can take a check as collateral. He said the fund is inside Denizbank. I gave money 4 times in total. Occasionally received money, 400 thousand dollars. After receiving this money, the next day he came to me for a new offer. I did not accept it. Although I initially doubted it, he called me and said, ‘I bought a ticket without asking you, I deposited 400 thousand dollars, otherwise we cannot get the money inside, the trade will close. After all, this person is a banker, I have never thought of such a scenario. I am complaining. Seçil’s need for money never stopped. I’m disgusted.”
“I haven’t seen this word before,” he said.
The lawyer for the accused requested the release of their client
The hearing prosecutor requested the continued detention of the detained defendants. The defendant’s lawyers requested the release of their detained clients. The chief justice of the court said that the hearing time was too long and postponed the hearing to Monday, January 15, to hear the testimony of witnesses and statements not heard from the complainants.
