Budapest Park Named Among Europe’s Endangered Heritage Sites in Photos

Budapest’s Memento Park, home to statues and monuments from Hungary’s Communist past, has been selected by the European Commission as one of Europe’s most endangered cultural heritage sites entitled to financial support. The park was included in the EC’s 7 most endangered programme launched ten years ago to protect and promote Europe’s cultural heritage. The park will now receive a €10,000 conservation grant provided by Europa Nostra and the European Investment Bank Institute. Other beneficiaries this year include the Kortrijk Railway Station in Belgium, the Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Watermills of Bistrica in Petrovac na Mlavi in Serbia.
