TÜRK-İŞ President Atalay Rejects Offer

Turkish workers in public institutions and organizations may be facing a tough negotiation process as the government and labor unions try to agree on new collective bargaining agreements. The current negotiations on the ‘2023 Public Collective Bargaining Agreement Framework Protocol’ involves over 700,000 workers, and TÜRK-İş President Ergün Atalay has announced the latest developments in the price hike negotiations.
According to reports, the government has offered a salary raise of around 40 percent for the first 6 months, with a base monthly offer of 12,000 liras. However, labor unions are demanding a 45 percent increase and a base wage of 15,000 liras. President Atalay has announced that the offer is not enough, and they are waiting for a better deal.
The negotiations have been ongoing, with both sides trying to reach a compromise. TÜRK-İş Public convened the Coordination Board, and HAK-İş also convened its coordination committee to discuss the latest offer from the government. While this latest development is seen as positive, President Atalay has said that they will not accept it and will continue to negotiate for a better deal.
The negotiations are expected to continue, with both sides hoping to reach an agreement that is acceptable to everyone. However, with such a large number of workers involved, it may take some time before a deal is reached. In the meantime, workers in public institutions and organizations will have to wait and see what the outcome of these negotiations will be.
