
Uzbekistan boosts footwear exports

Uzbekistan’s footwear exports have shown a promising rise in the first two months of 2023, with 3.4 million pairs worth $7.9 million exported to nine countries. This surge shows a $2.4 million increase in the value of footwear exports in comparison to the same period in the previous year, according to the Statistics Agency.
Kyrgyz Republic has been the highest importer of footwear from Uzbekistan with 1.5 million pairs, followed by Kazakhstan with 1.3 million pairs, Tajikistan with 484 thousand pairs and Azerbaijan with 59 thousand pairs. Among Uzbekistan’s provinces, Andijan region has been the most significant contributor with $4.6 million worth of footwear exports, followed by Fergana region with $1 million, Samarkand region with $758 thousand, and Khorezm region with $511 thousand exports.
The rise in footwear exports from Uzbekistan to various countries is an encouraging sign for the Uzbek industries.
